A message from our sponors Compass, …
In 2005 the Association of British Insurers issued new guidelines which removed the qay question from life assurance applications.
Within one year all insurance providers had changed their application forms releasing gay men from the discrimination that had existed for over a decade.
The ‘Sexual Behaviour’ question which now appears on applications was written by our Practice Manager Chris Morgan.
This ‘Equal’ question is now working fine on all life assurance applications. All people are required to answer the same question without any reference to their sexuality.
However, …
It has been brought to our attention recently that gay men taking Life Assurance between 1990 and 2005 may have felt the need to answer the gay question untruthfully.
We would very much like to hear from you if you are concerned about this issue and are concerned whether this will effect the payment of death benefits on your policy in the future.
We feel it is important to raise this issue with the industry, but need case examples to be able to help us understand the issue more and eventually challenge this unfairness.
