In the second of a new series of mini articles Chris Morgan, the lead financial adviser from our sponsors Compass shares some of the themes that have been emerging with Gay Life Insurance and Gay Life Assurance since the introduction of HIV Life Insurance and HIV Life Assurance products in the UK …
Should I disclose my HIV status to my Bank or Building Society?
Many banks and building societies have a policy of offering insurance products with every mortgage they arrange. This means that if you are Gay and HIV Positive you may be faced with answering difficult questions about your health history and HIV status at some point during the mortgage process.
In the majority of cases you are not obliged to take Life Assurance through your bank or the financial adviser they may have introduced you to. The majority of banks do not offer Insurance products to HIV Positive people, so if you need Gay Life Assurance or HIV Life Assurance you should seek independent advice.
Compass are specialists at looking after the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender communities and will be able to help you find Life Assurance or Mortgages without answering the personal questions from your bank. We are able to help you find Life Assurance to protect your mortgage, children or family.
